Course of Mountain Hiking in High Tatras

Course of Mountain Hiking in High Tatras

Faculty of Sports Studies organizes Course of Mountain Hiking for exchange students every year in autumn semester. High Tatra Mountains in Slovakia were the destination for the year 2014. Sixteen students from all over the world participated.

Participants were accommodated in the pension Litvor which is situated in the highest placed town in Slovakia - at Štrbské pleso.

The planned hikes were adapted to the weather which is unpredictable in the early October. Students with different backgrounds had a chance to explore Slovak mountains and visited beautiful lakes (Capie, Skalnaté, Popradské, Štrbské).

Feedback from students:

„It was a really nice experiece where I could meet new people from every cultures. I have never been in Slovakia before that and the Tatras mountains were one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, we have done 26 km  in a day but with the good company the time run fast :)“

„My overall assessment of the course is excellent. To my mind, there was a reasonable amount of teaching hours, our excursions were well organised.I consider it particularly useful that there were trips to different locations so we could get acquainted with a beautiful nature of Slovakia. The dates chosen for the course- the beginning of semester- are very convenient as students are not overloaded with their usual studies and thus have time to participate in this course.

The only thing I would like to notice about is that it would be better to move this course in a spring semester. I reckon this time is much better because there is no rain, the nature is much more fascinating and it is safer when there are no slippery stones, so we could climb farther and visit more places in the mountains, which were inaccessible due to bad autumn weather conditions.“

„It was a fantastic experience! I really enjoyed it. The view was amazing. The hiking part was hard but at the same time satisfying! I would recomend everyone to do it!“
