Jugglers met for the fourth time at the Faculty of Sports Studies

9.-11.2.2018 The 4th international jugglers meeting, BRNO JUGGLING CONVENTION (BJC 2018) was held at the Faculty of Sports Studies from 9th to 11th February 2018. The event is organized annually every second year by Dáša Heiland Trávníková from the Department of Social Sciences and Sports Management in cooperation with KUFR theatre and a team of FSpS students, graduates, and friends. Nearly 300 jugglers, acrobats and other modern-circus discipline enthusiasts from 13 countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, France, Brazil and others) arrived in Brno to participate in the convention.

During the three three-day BJC 2018 program, participants were improving their abilities, training together and learning new skills under the supervision of professional artists and lecturers in 21 workshops such as juggling with cones, acro-yoga, aerial hoop acrobatics, contact juggling, handstand training and many others.

The highlight of BJC 2018, traditional Galashow CABARET took place in the Buran Teatr on Kounicova street on Saturday 10th February. CABARET gala show attracted besides the convention participants also many viewers from the Brno city public. Among the top stars of the gala show were, for example, the diabolo legend Priam Pierret (FR) or aerial hoop acrobatics duo Firebirds (HU). The event was traditionally hosted by Adéla Kratochvílová from KUFR theatre and Filip Teller – famous Brno comedian and clown from.

Another popular part of BJC 2018 was for the second time in a row so-called Fight Night Combat - a unique cone juggling competition. To win this contest, the competitors must strike down at least one cone of their juggling opponents while keeping their own cones in the air. This year’s Fight Night Combat victory of a local contestant Michal Keda brought real joy to the whole organization team. The BJC 2018 meeting concluded with the juggling games for attractive prizes on Sunday 11th February.

Based on a media reviews, participants feedback and even guests at gala show, BJC 2018 was repeatedly evaluated as a very successful event which contributed to the image of Faculty of Sports Studies as an institution with a vast spectrum of activities.
