From New York to Zlín: Amil Khattar Introduced American Sports Management to Students
Students of the bachelor’s degree programme Sports Management at the Faculty of Sports Studies, Masaryk University, welcomed Amil Khattar, a Fulbright scholar, who is currently working as a lecturer at the Tomáš Baťa Business Academy in Zlín while also pursuing a master’s degree in Sports Management at Columbia University in New York.
During his lecture, Khattar introduced students to key topics that are part of sports management studies in the United States, including data analysis, measurement of the fan experience, and identifying value for sports event organizers. Students became familiar with specific challenges and projects addressed within the American higher education environment.
A significant part of the lecture focused on a comparison of sports events in the United States and the Czech Republic, particularly the differing emphasis on entertainment and a comprehensive event experience versus the more traditional European approach to sport. The lecture also opened a discussion on the future direction of sports management and the role of fan engagement.
We would like to thank Amil Khattar for his visit and for delivering an inspiring and valuable lecture to students of the Faculty of Sports Studies at Masaryk University.
