The fourth International Week confirmed the faculty’s growing reputation. The Faculty of Sports Studies at Masaryk University hosted 22 international experts
The 14th edition of the international conference Kinanthropology – Sport and Quality of Life took place on 3–5 December 2025 in Brno at the Hotel International. It brought together experts, researchers, and students in sport and movement sciences from both the Czech Republic and abroad, who spent three days sharing current research, insights, and practical experience.
The conference programme was structured into several thematic sections: Sports Performance and Diagnostics, Physical Activity and Health, Physical Education and Social Sciences, and for the first time a section on Circus Skills in Kinanthropology. This new addition demonstrated that circus skills can also be explored scientifically and used in innovative forms of pedagogy that develop not only physical abilities and motor skills, but even areas such as mathematics. It also showed how highly inclusive these activities are, offering opportunities for seniors as well as people with disabilities.
Among the invited international speakers were, for example, Prof. Dr. Claudio R. Nigg (University of Bern), Prof. Dr. em. Romain Meeusen (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), Dr. Dean Kriellaars (Human Potential Research Centre, Canada), Dr. Martina Navarro (University of Portsmouth), and Dr. Craig McNulty (Queensland University of Technology). They provided insights into current topics such as overtraining, sport and movement literacy, and the use of artificial intelligence in sports diagnostics and intervention planning.
The conference was not only about expert presentations. The social evening offered space for informal networking, dancing, and enjoying Moravian wines and excellent refreshments. The accompanying programme featured a performance by the LeGrando circus school, and full participation was encouraged by Dr. Ian Whyte in traditional Scottish attire, who led a session of paired Scottish dancing.
