HRS4R
HR Excellence in Research

About the HR Award

The Faculty of Sports Studies MU is a proud recipient of the HR Award!

The HR Excellence in Research (HR Award) is a prestigious award from the European Commission granted to institutions that have consistently developed and implemented the HRS4R (Human ResourcesStrategy for Researchers) strategy. Achieving this status demonstrates a commitment to creating fair, transparent, and high-quality working conditions for researchers and supporting their professional growth.

The award is based on the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, which rest on four pillars: ethical and professional aspects, recruitment of researchers, working conditions and social security, and professional development.

An institution that receives the HR Award commits, for example, to:

  • promoting equal opportunities and ethical principles in research
  • ensuring transparent and fair selection procedures
  • creating a high-quality and stable work environment
  • systematically developing the training and career growth of researchers

The award is followed by an implementation phase (Interim phase), during which the institution implements the approved action plan and regularly assesses progress. The process also includes thesubmission of an internal review (Internal Review), on the basis of which the European Commission confirms continued compliance with the HRS4R principles and may grant “HRS4R Embedded” status. Ourinstitution successfully defended this status on July 13, 2023, and in 2026 we continue with the next stage of the process — the Renewal phase —  which includes (among other things) a physical visit by the EuropeanCommission to our institution (Site visit).

The current list of organizations that have received the award is available on the website Euraxess

Action Plan and strategy

Action Plan and progress monitoring

The Action Plan under the HR Excellence in Research Award (HRS4R – Human Resources Strategy for Researchers) is a strategic document that outlines specific steps and measures aimed at improving conditions for researchers in accordance with the European Charter and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. These steps are in line with the long-term strategic goals of both the faculty and Masaryk University itself, and their implementation and development contribute to the continuous improvement of working conditions not only for researchers.

  • Meritocracy: The selection of candidates is based exclusively on their professional qualifications, research achievements, teaching experience, and potential for further development.
  • Ethics and Equal Opportunity: The Faculty strictly ensures equal treatment of all applicants regardless of gender, age, nationality, health status, or other personal characteristics. Selection committees are composed with an emphasison expertise, diversity, and impartiality.
  • Feedback: Applicants are offered the opportunity to receive feedback on the results of the selection process, thereby promoting open communication and increasing trust in the entire process.

This approach is part of the faculty’s long-term commitment to creating a high-quality, inclusive, and motivating work environment for researchers and academics.
