The WOMEN-KICK project is aiming to enhancing the health, performance, and career endurance of female football players through an innovative educational framework tailored to their unique physiological and training needs. Women in football face distinct challenges, including increased risk of injuries such as ACL tears, hormonal fluctuations impacting endurance and recovery, and energy deficiencies leading to performance decline. Despite the rapid growth of women's football, systemic gaps in coaching education, sports science research, and athlete support remain prevalent. To address these challenges, WOMEN-KICK will develop and implement tailored-made educational materials and a digital learning platform offering evidence-based training resources for coaches, trainers, and athletes. The platform will focus on injury prevention, menstrual health management, personalized training adaptation, and nutrition strategies to optimize performance. WOMEN-KICK follows a transnational, collaborative approach, engaging 6 partners from across 5 EU countries (Czech Republic, Denmark, Cyprus, Slovenia and France), namely, 3 HEIs (MUNI SPORT, USD, UCLan Cyprus), 2 SMEs (INQUIRIUM, IDL) and one Sport Association (SZMS), to exchange best practices, conduct pilot testing, and promote inclusive, gender-specific football education. The project will directly involve female footballers, coaches, and sports professionals, equipping them with scientific knowledge and practical tools to improve training methodologies and health outcomes. Through widespread dissemination, workshops, and engagement with relevant stakeholders, WOMEN-KICK aims to bridge the gender gap in football training and sports science, advancing a sustainable, inclusive sports environment. The project’s long-term impact will be the integration of gender-conscious coaching into football training, ensuring female players receive the support needed to excel, compete, and thrive in the sport.
