PhD students presented in Zlín about sleep and nutrition
PhD students Michaela Beníčková and Adam Wagner from our faculty visited the Gymnasium and Language school in Zlín.
Meet Ana Carolina Paludo, a postdoc research specialist who has been working at our faculty since May. Read about her career journey from Brazil to Brno.
I always tried to challenge and improve myself. I completed my Ph.D. in sport science at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, with a focus on athletes’ performance and psychological, hormonal, and autonomic responses. After my Ph.D. I worked as a temporary professor at a university in Brazil, teaching disciplines in the Sports Science area, and also supervise students on projects in the psychophysiological responses and sports performance.
Nevertheless, I felt that I needed to further my career. I already spend one year in Wales during my Ph.D., however, it was not enough. That´s when I saw on the website Times Higher Education a job offer for a postdoctoral position here at the Faculty of Sports Studies. I applied for the job and in December of 2020, I received a positive response. I remember that I was nervous but excited to get out of my comfort zone and living in another country with a different culture and language.
I started the job in May. Since then I have had good support from the university and especially from my department. The Faculty has great facilities and Brno is a lovely city, with interesting architecture, several options for culture, and good places to drink coffee. I am happy to stay here and I hope that I can share my academic knowledge and my experiences and I will be glad to help and learn with the Fsps community.
