Description The article focuses on the dynamics of subjective experiences and personality states of football referees. For this purpose a standardized questionnaire SUPSO was used. The values of the components of mental state of the referees before a match were compared with values observed after the match. Then the comparison of the results with average values for normal population was made. We found that the psychological state of football referees shows higher values of components of psychological comfort criterion compared to the general population of the Czech Republic. The values of the components of psychological discomfort were slightly lower in comparison with the general population. The only component of psychological discomfort of which the values before the game were found at the population average was anxious expectations and concerns (U). It turns out that football referees make a specific professional group that needs a higher level of physical endurance and frustration tolerance. Statistically highly significant decrease in activity (A), anxious expectations and concerns (U) and an increase in depression and a feeling of exhaustion (D) after a completed match was also found out in football referees.
