Description *Energy drinks are common commodity on a market with flavored non-alcoholic beverages. The objective of a double-blind, placebo-controlled study was to analyse the effect of non-alcoholic beverages of various compositions on attention and central nervous system responses. The effect of 3 beverages was compared with different amounts of the same active ingredients (100%, 300%), one of which was a control beverage (placebo). The control beverage was free of the active ingredients, but the same taste and served in the same package as experimental beverages. The study showed a positive effect on all monitored parameters (vigiliance, attention, autonomic nervous system activity) in a beverage containing 300 % of the active ingredients. On the basis of the data obtained, it is possible to recommend the consumption of beverages in stressful (work) situations in which attention and concentration must be increased immediately. An effect of a drink can be expected within 30 minutes and may last at least 3 hours after consumption. The effect of the drink was mediated exclusively by natural plant extracts. A study was realized as o collaborative study called Cooperation on the evolution of an energy drink (reg. code 0562/2017)
