Citation
Description Xanthones are secondary metabolites of only few plant families. In this research xanthones were isolated from stem and root bark of Maclura pomifera (Moraceae) using methods of ultrasonic extraction, liquid/liquid extraction, column chromatography, preparative TLC and semi-preparative HPLC. Subsequently, the substances were identified using TLC, analytical HPLC, MS and 1D and 2D NMR experiments. Electron absorption spectra were evaluated trying to find a possible relationship between the structure and a particular modification of the spectrum.
