| Description | Xanthones are secondary metabolites of only few plant families. In this research xanthones were isolated from stem and root bark of Maclura pomifera (Moraceae) using methods of ultrasonic extraction, liquid/liquid extraction, column chromatography, preparative TLC and semi-preparative HPLC. Subsequently, the substances were identified using TLC, analytical HPLC, MS and 1D and 2D NMR experiments. Electron absorption spectra were evaluated trying to find a possible relationship between the structure and a particular modification of the spectrum. |
