Description The article deals with attitudes of adolescent girls to sports activities. It compares the number of sports activities and motivational factors to them among girls from medical secondary schools and girls from other types of secondary schools. The research in the form of questionnaire was held in six secondary schools in Brno. The analysis shows that more than half of the girls practise moving activities mainly because they like them. Girls from medical secondary schools practise sport less than girls from other types of secondary schools even though they are aware of its positive influence on health. Nevertheless, the school is not the only environment which leads girls to practising sports activities. Family background plays also an important role because it can influence children’s attitudes to sports activities from his / her early childhood.
