The University Sports Centre provides education in compulsory PE for day students of all faculties of Masaryk University (except for students majoring at the Faculty of Sports Studies).

The aim of teaching compulsory physical education is primarily:

  • Creating support for the acquisition of new movement skills
  • Opportunity to keep physical active
  • The opportunity to try a new physical activity or sport
  • To compensate for a sedentary lifestyle during the semester
  • Mental Relaxation
  • Increase in fitness levels
  • Increasing knowledge of the physical activity and its benefits on the body

Another equally important goal of the University Sport Centre is to promote a healthy lifestyle and spread awareness of the positive benefits of getting regular physical activity not only among students, but also among Masaryk University staff and the general public. In addition to the compulsory physical education classes, the The University Sport Centre organises one-off sports events for MUNI students and employees (e.g. MUNI DAY). Moreover, the centre works closely with the Lifelong Learning Department of the Faculty of Sports Studies of MU, which organises fee-paying physical exercise for students, MUNI employees and the general public, weekend stays at Luhačovice and other activities for staff, students and the general public.

As a member of the Czech Association of University Sports , CUS participates in the organisation of championship and non-championship competitions for university students. It also cooperates with the National Sports Agency.
