The Department of Sports Performance and Diagnostics specializes in comprehensive research and the application of knowledge related to sports performance, its management, diagnosis, and optimization in the context of elite and competitive sports. The department’s primary goal is to advance knowledge in the areas of sports training, load management, movement performance diagnostics, and the implementation of modern technological and analytical approaches into sports practice. Emphasis is placed on linking science, research, and application in the real-world environment of sports teams, associations, and organizations. Educational activities focus on the professional training of specialized coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, nutrition specialists, and sports managers, with an emphasis on an evidence-based approach and the use of modern diagnostic and analytical tools.
Research Focus of the Department
The department’s research activities are oriented toward an interdisciplinary approach combining insights from kinesiology, physiology, biomechanics, data analysis, and sports management. A key principle is the application of scientific knowledge to the environment of elite sports and its direct applicability in training and organizational practice.
1. Load management and sports performance management
Focus on the analysis, modeling and optimization of training loads for athletes at both individual and team levels, particularly in the context of elite sports. Research focuses on the relationship between training load, performance, fatigue, and recovery, including the use of advanced data analytics, monitoring systems, and predictive modeling.
2. Sports Performance Diagnostics
Focus on field diagnostics of sports performance using state-of-the-art technological approaches. This includes the analysis of speed-strength profiles, the use of devices such as the 1080 Sprint, GPS systems, and other tools for evaluating the mechanical and neuromuscular characteristics of performance. Emphasis is placed on the validity, reliability, and practical applicability of diagnostic methods.
3. Sports Nutrition and Recovery
Research in the field of nutritional strategies, supplementation, and recovery in relation to performance optimization and adaptation to physical stress. An important component is the integration of laboratory findings with real-world sports practice and the individualization of nutritional interventions.
4. Esports and the Digital Performance Environment
Focus on performance research in the context of esports and digital games, including cognitive, physiological, and behavioral aspects of performance. The research reflects the growing importance of esports and its specific characteristics in terms of physical stress, training, and performance optimization.
5. Sports Management and the Management of Sports Organizations
Focus on research into the management processes of sports clubs, associations, and organizations, with an emphasis on efficiency, strategic management, data-driven decision-making, and the implementation of modern approaches in the sports environment. The research bridges the gap between athletic performance and the organizational and managerial aspects of sports.
6. Para-sports and the Specifics of Athletic Performance
Focus on the diagnosis, classification, and optimization of performance in para-sports, including movement categorization and the specifics of the training process for athletes with disabilities.
Application and Transfer Activities
